Humanities is the core focus of a Franklin Classical School education, informing the interpretation and application of all other subjects. Each year, students in K-8th grades study the same humanities era, rotating annually through Antiquity, Christendom, and American Culture. In grades 9-12, the era of Modernity is added. Our classically trained teachers weave the year’s humanities theme into all subjects. For example during the era of American Culture, grammar students draw portraits of George Washington during art, read Little House on the Prairie for literature, and learn American folk songs in music.

What is Classical

True education is a kind of never ending story - a matter of continual beginnings, of habitual fresh starts, or persistent newness.
