FCS Lower Division 6-8

LOGIC STAGE

Students learn to reason, question, and make connections.

Lower Division at FCS calls out new responsibilities and freedoms for 7th and 8th graders as they leave the grammar program.

In 7th grade, FCS students are able to begin the year at King’s Mountain Camp with Lower and Upper Division students. At camp they begin forming relationships with teachers and peers in an outdoor environment filled with social and physical team-building activities, as well as opportunities to learn from faculty and alumni and engage in heartfelt worship.

Parent-Led Education in the Lower Division

The full range of school subjects may be taken in school at FCS, however families have the option to choose to homeschool some subjects.

Lower Division students may choose to experience a blend of traditional classroom learning and parent-led education through the University Model Learning approach. This model allows students to move to a block schedule, giving them the flexibility to choose to homeschool certain subjects, while still engaging in core classes at school.

Humanities Block Classes

Humanities in Lower Division consists of cycling through three historical time periods: Antiquity, Christendom, and American Culture. FCS students complete four quarterly projects each year.  See our Traditions page for more!

All FCS Lower Division students are required to attend the Humanities Block classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These classes include:

  • Bible

  • Literature

  • English

  • Humanities Lecture

Students in grades 7-12 who are enrolled in a math or science course attend 30-minute Natural Philosophy lectures each Wednesday and Friday.  Natural Philosophy is the classical term used to describe the integrated study of mathematics, science, and moral philosophy through a biblical worldview lens.

Discipleship through biblical principle application is a constant in the classroom as well as planned occasions specifically purposed for team building and relationship care. Chapel time on Tuesdays and Thursdays also includes a time of singing praise and praying together.
